Sometimes, you want a bit of fog or mist in your pictures. Something soft surrounding your subject, kind of fading them out around the edges, to give it an ethereal/whimsical feel. Well, here's an easy way to make your own 'mist/fog'.
Make sure your model/subject is in position, with decent lighting (you also might want a tripod). Go ahead and focus on your subject and then set your lens to manual focus so that it won't re-focus. Breath on your lens till it fogs up and start snapping pictures before it fades. You might want to use a rag to swipe a clear spot on your lens so that it's only foggy around the edges (or whatever area you want to be foggy). Clean the picture up in editing. Here are a few examples of this technique. =)
(WARNING: I have only used this technique once. I'm pretty sure that if too much moisture get's into your lens, it could hurt it, so I would not suggest you do this a lot. But occasionally should be fine.)

| This one and the one's below are edited. Notice how her eye is not very sharp. Some people may be okay with that, but I would have preferred her eye to be sharp. So if you're like me, you'll want to make sure you focus on the eyes, and that the 'fog' is not as thick around that area. |

| This one is majorly edited, but I think it would be fun to try and draw. =) |
